Day 1: Marrakech – Kasbah Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Valley of Roses – Dades Gorge

You will departing early from your Riad/Hotel or the airport and travelling in a southerly direction, crossing the high mountains of the HIGH ATLAS and passing through the port of mountain Tizi n’Tichka at 2260 m of altitude and that is the highest mountain main route in North Africa. There will be a stop to visit Ouarzazate; also known as the door of the desert and where the most important film studios of Morocco are called Atlas Studios. We will continue our route until we arrive at the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou (UNESCO world heritage site) and well known for the filming of many famous movies such as: Gladiator, Obelix, The Kingdom of Heaven and the Prince of Persia. We continue our journey through the beautiful Valley of Roses where its inhabitants cultivate small plots of the botanical species Rosa Damascus, and which are a great source of income and importance to its population, once dry the roses serve to make perfumes, oils and other products for the beauty market.
Our next stop will be the Dades Gorge where we spend the night.

 

Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

After a good breakfast today we go all the way to the desert of Merzouga, on the way we will visit the very dense and leafy Palm Grove of Todra; formed by a massive extension of palm trees. Our journey continues until we reach the Todra Gorge, continuing to Erfoud (City of fossils) characterized by its typical and traditional houses in the area which are inhabited by the Berber peoples. We will arrive in Merzouga where we will leave the 4×4 and we will be waiting for the camels to traverse the large dunes of the desert for about two hours, we make a stop at a dune to watch as the sun hides leaving the night enter. We will spend the night in the heart of the desert in nomadic tents or also called haimas and enjoying the stars, the moon, the peace and harmony that the desert offers us.
Dinner and accommodation in haimas (an unforgettable night).

 

Day 3: Merzouga – The Draa Valley – High Atlas – Marrakech

Today we will have to wake up very early to be able to watch as the sunrises over the dunes, an image that it´s likely you will never forget, and then we will ride back to the hotel by camel where after a shower and breakfast, we will leave in the direction of the vast Palm Groves of Tafilalet. On the way we will cross the city of Rissani (the Alaouite dynasty and the capital of the former Alaouite sultans). Our path continues toward Alnif; a small population that is characterized by its desert environment, the oasis of Tazarine and Nkob. We arrive in Ouarzazate via the unbeatable Draa Valley as we pass the Berber people of Agdz and the pass of Ait Saoun (1660m of altitude) with unbeatable views. We will arrive in Marrakech in the middle of the afternoon where you will be transferred to your Riad/ Hotel.
